This story follows the journey of a princess whose 11 brothers are turned into swans following a wicked step mother’s curse. A wise crone comes to her and tells her of a way to get her brothers back. In sworn silence, the girl painstakingly works to weave 11 shirts of nettle fibers before the clock runs out. The townsfolk take note of her odd behavior and vote to burn her at the stake for witch craft. Against all odds, on the way to the pyre itself she finishes the last of the nettle shirts and the 11 swans transform back into princes. The pyre then turns into a wide hedge with red roses topped with a bright white flower that shines like a star.
